History
This beautiful suburb called Pyrmont, received its name back in 1806 when water bubbling out from a rock was spotted and was compared to a similar and very popular natural spring in Germany called Pyrmont. Pyrmont and adjoining Ultimo have a special place in the history of Sydney. For more than a century they were a mainstay of the city’s wool storage, sugar refining, flour milling and shipping industries. And in addition, much of the yellow block sandstone used in the construction of early Sydney buildings came from Pyrmont. It was a close close-knit community, with values that typified an Australian working class area in the first half of the 20th century.

At present
The injection of more than $240 million of Commonwealth and State funding, mainly for new services, roadways and infrastructure, and a joint effort by the public and private sectors have made Pyrmont what it is today. One of Sydney's most sought after districts. Within redevelopment of the district, there has been an ever increasing change in the lifestyle for Pyrmont residents and business people. They now have everything at their fingertips, Coles supermarket, the CBD, Darling Harbour and beautiful landscaped waterfront parkland with play areas and BBQ facilities.
Transportation is easily accessible with buses, ferries, the light rail and monorail connecting Pyrmont to the attractions of the attractions of the City CBD, Darling Harbour, Chinatown, Star City Casino and beyond.
